California Vacation: Day 1-3

On Saturday, May 12th we woke our girls up at 5 am! We took a video of waking them up, but we didn't want to turn on their bedroom lights so it's too dark to post here. Both of them were very out of it when we woke them up. Brooklyn asked "why are you waking me up so early?" and rolled back over. Once she finally woke up, Brooklyn then got to wake up Eliza with the news of our surprise trip to Legoland and Disneyland! Eliza jumped up much faster than Brooklyn. 

After breakfast and getting dressed, we were off to the airport. We scored a great deal with JetBlue. The girls were so excited to fly on an airplane! Their next surprise came when they found their Grandma (my mom) at the airport waiting to come along with us on our trip!

Brooklyn was so excited! She was a little disappointed by the television choices on the airplane though. They were only playing "boy cartoons".

 Eliza was very nervous when it came time for the plane to take off.

 We flew into Long Beach, California. Quite possibly one of the smallest airports I've ever seen!

Next we were off to rent a car and drive to Carlsbad for a day at Legoland. We were there so early we had some time to kill before Legoland even opened.

 When the girls got out of the car, they both hugged each other and chanted "Legoland, Legoland!"

We had never been to Legoland, but it was perfect for our little family. My girls love Lego's so they had fun seeing all the different Lego's throughout the park.

Plus, Eliza was the perfect size so she could ride most of the rides. I could ride most of them too as an expectant mother, which was a definite plus.

Brooklyn is our brave girl. She rode every ride possible and loved the big roller coasters. Eliza took a lot more convincing just to ride some of the small rides.

 She loved riding in the cars the best.

This is one of my absolute favorite pictures. Eliza is screaming because she is getting wet, yet she can't stop spraying the other people.

 Eliza really wanted to ride this ride, but she had to be 4 years old. Brooklyn enjoyed it!

We even found another Eliza at the park (even if she is deceased). Legoland closed at 5 pm (off season) so we still had time to drive to our condo in Huntington Beach plus get some food for the rest of the week. The girls crashed on the way there though because they were so exhausted!

 Day 2 was Sunday and also Mother's Day! I felt pretty lucky to have my mom with me. We went to Sacrament meeting at a local church.

 Then we headed to the beach! It was windy and cold and not very fun.

My girls were so cold they ended up bundled in a chair with their towels. Eliza actually fell asleep like this. We didn't last too long before heading back to our condo.

 We did come back later (fully clothed) to enjoy some more time at the beach.

 We played in the sand and built a sand castle.

 We enjoyed walking the beach looking for seashells.

 We loved the feeling of sand between our toes!

 We had fun playing around as a family.

Plus, it was fun to watch the sunset.

 Day 3 (Monday), we were back at Legoland. We bought a two day pass, which was good because there was still so much to see.

 It was amazing to see all the things made of Lego's. I wanted to know how long it took to build them!

 We enjoyed riding the rides we missed on the first day.

The girls really wanted to play at Legoland's Waterpark, but it was only open on the weekend. We hadn't packed towels because they were available at the condo so we didn't have them on Saturday when we were there. So Monday, we let them play in the splash pad area.

 They had a blast, but didn't' last too long because it was a little chilly!

 We went shopping for some Lego's to take home and Eliza fell right asleep.

 We had some time left before the park closed so we decided to try out Legoland's Aquarium.

 It didn't take too long, but it was fun to see the Lego's in the water with the fish.

 Plus we found some strange creatures there! :)

Legoland was an overall success! We learned on the first day that the food is extremely overpriced inside so we packed our lunch in on the second day. I would definitely recommend this park to anyone who has kids who love Lego's!
