Carving Pumpkins

For FHE this week we carved our pumpkins for Halloween night. We were supposed to meet up with our friends to do this, but Brooklyn has a cold and we didn't want to infect all the other kids (especially right before Halloween). So we just stayed at home and did this together. We had a fun night!

Cleaning out the "guts". Brooklyn wasn't so sure about this mess. Last year she dug right in and played, but I guess she has learned some cleanliness since then.

Carving the pumpkin...with some help from daddy. Brooklyn wanted to do this all by herself, but the pumpkin was pretty hard for such little muscles.

Brooklyn wanted to make the bat after she looked through all the patterns. What a proud family!

Brooklyn and her bat pumpkin. She called this her birthday pumpkin because of the candles. Another funny thing is she grabbed onto the stem and pulled up by mistake. It scared her that the lid came off! She must have forgotten all the carving we had just done.

After Brooklyn went to bed, Marty and I carved a cat in our other pumpkin. Brooklyn picked it out, but wasn't able to stay up to help with this one. She was very excited to see it in the morning though! She keeps asking when we get to carve another pumpkin since we have one more pumpkin on our porch. However, that pumpkin is saved for a Thanksgiving decoration.
