2009 Review

As 2009 comes to an end, I thought it would be fun to recap some of the things we did this past year.

Eliza was given a name and a blessing in our church, has learned to smile, eat food, sleep through the night, roll over, sit up, crawl, and stand by herself. Eliza has worried the whole family with being sick so much this year. She has taught us all about nebulizers and different medications. She loves to make us laugh and has proven herself to be a great addition to our family.

Brooklyn has adjusted to being a big sister and is still learning to share everything. She started preschool and loves learning. She has learned to obey her parents better. She survived her last year of Nursery with all the "babies" and is looking forward to starting Primary on Sunday. Brooklyn had four stitches in her mouth after an accident at a Birthday party. She has learned how to make new friends and loves to play pretend. She does really well at entertaining herself. She also makes us laugh constantly by some of things she says.

Angie did her part in spending all our money on medical expenses. She had a 7.5 mm kidney stone, surgery to have it removed, and many follow up appointments. She also had a mole removed and a cavity filled. She learned lots about saving money this year and has had fun finding sweet deals. I guess this makes up for all the medical expenses. She also found her crafty side and has enjoying learning more about sewing.

Marty remained mostly healthy, unlike the rest of us. He became the Bishop at the age of 29 and is barely starting to feel comfortable in this calling. He knows he still has lots to learn and many things he could do better. He has been working hard on finishing our basement, but it looks like it won't be done until 2010. He used half of his vacation days on church activities. He never has enough time to do everything he wants, but does a great job in maintaining relationships with his family. We also both turned 30 this year.

As a family, we've become closer to our Heavenly Father. We've made new friends, lost contact with others, dealt with drama in our families and recovered from them. We have a greater understanding that things happen for a reason and we have things we need to learn. We've had fun going on vacations to California and St. George. We enjoyed a trip to Lagoon, many trips to the zoo, and playgroup activities. We've celebrated holidays and birthdays and enjoyed our time together.

Looking back, it's hard to believe everything that happened in a year. It's honestly a bit scary to think about what might happen this year, but we're ready for it. Happy New Year!!
